Paula Rego House Of Stories

Paula Rego House of Stories is a space filled with "fun, unpretentious, alive, full of joy and lots of mischief", that has as its mission the knowledge and enjoyment of the works by Portuguese artist Paula Rego. It’s a beautiful Portuguese museum for contemporary art but also, and especially, to fit into the international art circuit and its audiences.

The Museum of The Sea was inaugurated in June 1992 with the purpose of getting close to the fishing community of Cascais. The museum is a study of mammals and artifacts, some still found in the surrounding waters and it features collections of life size mammals, all the fishermen attire and instruments, alongside other navigational tools used back in the day. Perfect for any age.

Citadel Palace

An important strategic place in the 70’s, a home for the royal family in the 80’s and a having been used by several important people from our State in the 90’s, this renovated palace holds a large amount of Portuguese history behind its doors, mesmerizing inside and out, with its perfect location serving you a wonderful view overlooking the bay.

Santa Marta Lighthouse Museum

The Santa Marta lighthouse started operations in 1868 and it played an important part in the defence of Cascais. It’s still in use and plays its role till this day, all the while being opened to the public with exhibitions, an auditorium and even visits to the tower.

Boca do Inferno
Location: Cascais
Safety: Not watched so be careful!

To reach it follow the Avenue Rei Humberto II past Cascais Marina and walk along the coastline. This road also has one of the best cycle paths in Portugal. There is no entrance fee to visit the Boca do Inferno and the site is open all the time, just don’t forget to be careful whenever you visit because of the waves!

Guincho

By bus - Take a 405 bus at Cascais bus station, near the train station, and exit at the beach stop!
Guincho beach is considered one of our largest beaches in the country, with a huge expanse of sand, both in length and width. It’s characterized by a strong swell and strong winds and it’s one of the best beaches for extreme sports and windsurfing.

Queen's Beach

Small sandy beach, tucked between cliffs on which houses have been built.
Located in the center of Cascais, this is a hidden beach with calm waters. In the surrounding area you can find a snack-bar with an outdoor seating, as well as spots to rest and contemplate the scenery! A stunning and calm beach within arms reach.

Tamariz

By train – Take the train at Cascais train station and exit at Estoril train station and walk down to the beach.
A beach with excellent facilities, including a lifeguard, spas, restaurants, snack bars, outdoor coffee shop and water sports. It has an Atlantic swimming pool next to the existing pier.

Ribeira Beach

By bus – Take a BUSCAS at the Cascais train station and exit at the station right near the beach!
Located in the center of Cascais, the Ribeira Beach's main use is for fishing. The beach has a quay for boats and a beautiful architectural setting within the town of Cascais. Perfect for relaxing and watching the sunset.

Oceanic Pool
Location: Av. Marginal 1, 2750-246, Cascais

Timetable: Mondays to Sundays 08:00 AM – 06:00 PM
How to get there:
This oceanic Pool is a small structure built between Praia da Duquesa (Cascais) and Praia das Moitas (Estoril). With several transportation and parking (paid) nearby, this pool is easy to access and free of charge. It’s watched by a lifeguard and served by a bar with a wonderful terrace overlooking the sea. In addition, it is excellent for bathing, especially when the tide is low.

Marechal Carmona Park
LOCATION: Praceta Domingos D’Avilez - Av. da República, Cascais

How to get there:
Once a royal garden, this park has vast lawns, stunning flowerbeds and bushes, woods with large trees and pathways with a touch of romanticism. It also has lakes, a picnic area and a field for traditional games. It’s the perfect spot to lay back and chill for a while.

Palmela Park

How to get there:
This park is perfect for anyone who loves sports. It’s challenging with its circuits and hills and the beautiful scenery inspires you to connect with nature. It also has a cafeteria service with a terrace.

Estoril Boardwalk

How to get there: Walk down to the other side of the train station and start there.
This place is perfect for walking, jogging, or just taking a deep breath near the sea. It’s amazing during the Summer where the good weather extends until the evening.
